The Problem,

  One of the most terrifying problems today is the pollution of our ocean, and even worst is the plastic in it. Plastic kill animals, pollutes our ocean, and eventually will impact humans.  Most of this plastic ends up hurting animals or killing them. To help you fully understand this, I will break the problem into two separate groups. First is the stopping of littering. The littering is the cause of the pollution and has to be stopped first, before we can do anything else. The plastic pollution is plastic that gets thrown away instead of being recycled, normally that plastic cannot biodegrade so it ends up in our landfills. And then into the ocean. Direct littering (ex. dropping plastic out of the car) ends up in the ocean by wind or rain. The second problem is the cleaning of the ocean. This is a problem because the pollution is already there and needs to be cleaned.  The second problem we cannot stop, only fix. This is the most challenging but if we can fix this then we can stop plastic pollution in the ocean.

The solution,

The solution to this problem is somewhat simple. Most of this plastic can be recycled, but most is not that is why it ends up in landfills, and then the ocean. So by simply recycling more and making more recyclable and biodegradable items we can stop pollution in the ocean. Now we will discuss the second problem, the plastic already in the ocean. This can be solved by cleaning up the ocean, we would have to join together with all nations so we can clean the international waters. This task will take many years but if we work hard we can clean the ocean of plastic.
